Our Story

How we approach a deck

We build new decks and fix old ones for homeowners around Little Rock, and most of us ended up doing this because we liked building things that actually get used outdoors. A deck isn't finish carpentry hidden behind drywall, it takes weather and foot traffic and has to hold up to both.

If you're on this page, there's a good chance you've got a deck with a soft spot near the stairs, a railing that shifts when you grab it, or boards gone gray and splintery. We pull up the suspect boards and check the joists and ledger underneath before quoting anything, because the rot you can see is rarely the only rot there is, and we flash and fasten the repair so that spot doesn't fail again in two years.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed & Insured

Every job is covered by insurance in case a tool or material damages something on site. Certificates are handed over without hassle if you want to see them before we start.

Permit Handling

Decks attached to the house, and anything over 30 inches off grade, usually need a permit and inspection locally. We handle that paperwork so you're not the one calling the building department.

Clean Jobsite

Deck demo leaves a mess of old boards, screws and sawdust, and we don't leave it for you to deal with. A stray fastener left in the grass is how someone's dog or kid gets hurt, so we're careful about it.

Written Quotes

Our quotes break out lumber species, fastener type and labor separately, so you know what you're paying for. No vague allowances that turn into a surprise charge once the deck is half built.

Our Own Crew

We don't hand your project off to a rotating cast of subcontractors. The people framing your deck are the same ones who walked your yard and took the measurements.

Local to Little Rock

Little Rock summers are humid enough to rot untreated lumber in a few years, and our winters still bring freeze-thaw cycles that heave footings. We build and repair with that in mind instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about how we work and who's doing it.

How long have you been building decks?
Deck construction and repair is the sole focus of the work done day to day, rather than one service among many general carpentry jobs. That focus means framing, flashing and fastener choices are picked specifically for how decks fail, not for general carpentry.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Deck projects are built with an in-house crew rather than subcontracted out to other companies. The same people who measure and quote the job are the ones framing and finishing it.
Can I see examples of past deck work?
Photos of completed deck installs, repairs and railing work are available on request, including examples close to a specific style or material being considered. Local references can also be shared for anyone who wants to see a finished deck in person.
Why choose a smaller deck builder over a large contracting company?
A smaller deck-focused crew means the lead builder is actually on site, not a project manager relaying information from a crew that's never met the homeowner. Decisions about framing or a design change can be made on the spot instead of waiting on multiple layers of approval.
Where are you based?
Operations are based in Little Rock, Arkansas, with deck projects regularly taken on in Conway, North Little Rock, Benton, Sherwood and the surrounding towns. Driving distance is factored into scheduling for jobs farther out in the service area.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Spring and early summer fill up fastest for new deck builds, so booking a few weeks ahead during that stretch is common. Repairs and smaller jobs usually have more flexibility and can often be scheduled sooner.
Do you clean up the site after a deck project?
Old decking, scrap lumber, packaging and loose fasteners are hauled off and swept up before a job is called finished. A deck project shouldn't leave a yard worse than a pile of nails and sawdust.
What happens if something on my property gets damaged during the work?
Deck work is covered by liability insurance, so damage to fencing, landscaping or siding during construction or repair is handled directly rather than left for the homeowner to deal with. Certificates of insurance are available before work begins for anyone who wants to see them.
Will you take over a deck another contractor started or left unfinished?
Unfinished or problem decks started by another contractor are evaluated case by case, usually starting with an inspection of whatever framing is already in place. If the existing work doesn't meet code or is structurally unsound, that gets flagged before any new work builds on top of it.
How can I tell if deck work is being done correctly?
Properly built decks have flashed ledger boards, joist hangers rated for pressure-treated lumber, footings set below the frost line, and railings that don't flex under weight. Asking to see these details during a walkthrough, rather than just the finished boards on top, is the best way to check the work underneath.
